I think the premise of the OP is flawed. I think the only positions this is really true for is centre and that's obviously because white people are smarter.

They are very similar positions, yet the racial barrier between the two positions is almost never crossed. Do you think there are actually genetic differences that make whites better O lineman and blacks better D lineman, or do you think stereotypes cause coaches to slot players into one side or the other based on race? I'd like to see Real Sports do a segment on this. [/ QUOTE ] This is quite simple. The (black) OL get to beat the **** out of the (white) quarterback. While of course his (white) homies have to defend him. Notice that only on of McNabbs OL is white. |

I assume in all these cases that college coaches are just racist, not anyone specifically, and once someone gets to the NFL it's usually not the case that they will be moved to a position like center. |

OL is all about knowing assignments - aka 'smarts'. You have to be able to recognize and remember lots of different schemes. DL is all about speed and strength - aka 'physical traits'. Just go make a play. Once you realize that, you'll see the obvious answer to your question. [/ QUOTE ] umm...wow |

Looking further, we see what happens when a really smart big black guy plays OL (Larry Allen, Orlando Pace, Walter Jones, Randall McDaniel, etc) [/ QUOTE ] so basically, black people are big and strong, but too dumb to play OL? except a few outliers? nice post [/ QUOTE ] Or that a position that requires technique more than elite athleticism is more likely to draw from the ~75% of Americans that are white than position that require elite athleticism, which black players are more likely to have. |

Do we have numbers on how many white/black offensive/defensive lineman there are?

I'd like to see some stats that back up OP's claim.
