Re: 200nl: Overbet shove rvr w/ nuts.
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] but why shove on a bluff? ..... I think he'll take the shove to mean 'nuts/near nuts' a lot. [/ QUOTE ] ? [/ QUOTE ] I think he's trying to say 'why would this look like a bluff to villain?' Which is valid for most people, but from what I have gathered Mr Donk does try to set up this kind of hand with bluffs that look kinda like this. He knows villain is a 2+2er and he prob wouldn't take this kinda line vs. someone who wouldn't know Mr Donk's style. That's how I see it at least. |

[/ QUOTE ] I dont see how neone including donk would make such a huge bet as a bluff. I do however see that it may accually be a +ev bluff given that you can probably conclude that villians range has less than 10% monsters so shoving in isolation may acually be a good bluff. thoughts on this? (please consider that im not talking about oour holding in this hand but if we acually were bluffing) |

Re: 200nl: Overbet shove rvr w/ nuts.
[ QUOTE ]
I like it. Two good missed draws make this a good spot for a play like this. Especially if he read your thread about your hand against NoTurns. :-) He's not going to call here that often, but I don't think he calls a normal sized raise all that much more frequently anyway. The only hand you're possibly losing value from is AQ. [/ QUOTE ] I agree. I like this play personally. As played, you really can't put him on an overpair or that strong of a hand so I think representing a missed draw here gives you a chance of getting paid off by some weaker hands. Obviously, if you had put him on strong hand betting the turn would have been optimal. |

Re: 200nl: Overbet shove rvr w/ nuts.
[ QUOTE ]
I called with a slow-played KK. I think it was a poor call by me- however, you were only called because I'd just read your other post regarding your over-shove river bluff! You were also helped by your turn check as it made it hard for me to define your hand. (I was planning on check-raising.) However, you should have just bet the turn and river as all the money would have most likely gone in anyway. Your turn check not only reduces the chances of getting fully paid but it also gives a dangerous free card to JT or a flush draw. All in all, a good example of how not to play KK or a flopped set. [/ QUOTE ] yep, cant afford to give those free cards if you're on a flush draw? |
