Re: xp or vista?
My Vista box runs fine with 2G. The video card is going to be more important for the bells and whistles than the system memory. I shaved a couple of points off the built in metric number thingy that Vista has by putting in a 256mb video card.

Re: xp or vista?
I still call it BS. 2 GB of RAM is more than enough to run all the fancy Aero features and everything else smoothly in Vista. As some others have said a good video card is just as, if not more important to a degree. I know for a fact that 2 GB of RAM and a 128 MB memory card will make Vista smoke. I run Photoshop for long periods of time and will also run DVD rip/burn/encoding software at the same time or maybe home video editing software and I Vista still rocks on as fast or faster than XP.
I've been running Vista on a dual boot laptop with XP since Vista came out and I've got to tell you I love it. There are some minor annoyances but they are things most people will never notice. I've got computer illiterate customers with new Vista machines and they don't even know they aren't using XP. They just think Microsoft change the Start button and created a new theme for XP.lol |

Re: xp or vista?
Yes that's good.lol Sorry I didn't clarify. If you get 2 GB of RAM and a 128 MB (or bigger) video card and you are doing "normal" stuff (ie: not a gamer) you won't be sorry.
