Global warming and "If everyone just does something"

I'm just working under the assumption that technology will eventually deal with environmental issues much better than current day activism can. It's kind of like traveling to another star, either go fast or stay at home. That's not to say that if two options are equal in all areas but one is less polluting that you shouldn't choose the environmentally friendlier option.
