if it's a close friend, you take his dad. If not, you don't need to.

Not once in this thread has OP typed the word "friend" in relation to his roommate. Sounds like it's just that, a roommate, and not a friend.

If the guy's a legit friend OP, then you'd be a douche not to do it. Doesn't sound that way though, and if it's taking you three hours to do this, it's a pretty big favor. If you think he'll pay you back in spades and wanna go for that, do it. If not "Sorry bro, I have to work" is an easy way around it. And you shouldn't feel guilty about that.

I thought the airport was an hour away, so that's 2 hours, not 3 hours... if you think you have to sit and wait with him or something until his plane leaves, you're crazy.

You didn't mention in your OP that you had a work shift. Even if it's flexible hours, it's a poor choice of your roommate to ask you to do this for him if he knows you are working.

He is my friend.

Trip would be an hour and twenty minutes each way.

If my friend/roommate can drive him a bit earlier would I still be a douche for passing it up?

I would agree if there were no other options. But apparently he could be take about two hours earlier by my friend/roommate and that would work too.

take him, don't make a big deal out of it, and feel good about yourself. it really shouldn't be a big deal to do favors for people you like/respect.

I guess the main thing holding me back is that he can be taken earlier just as easily...so not sure why I should even be brought in to the whole discussion..

I know I'm probably making too big a deal out of it but there goes three hours I won't get back when I have a lot going on tomorrow already.

Really depends on how good of a deal you're getting on rent imo.

is your job professional poker player?

if so, get a verizon card and have the dad drive while you work on the way to the airport. now you only wasted half the time.

if thats not your job then you are probably busto and could use the good favor when you are late on rent so do it.

Are you just hoping OOT will let you off the hook?

You: No, I can't drive your Pops. I a little busy with stuff I can do later.
Friend: That's a pretty douche move, bra.
You: Nuh-uh. My innernet friends said I don't have to.
Friend: [laughs] Oh, for a second there I thought you were serious. That's bra.
