Is this a level?

The one time I visited Boston, I ate there and thought it was really great. Since then, I've heard that it is somewhat disdained by locals as "touristy." Is that true?

I liked it a lot, but I was a tourist when I went there FWIW.

Lots of cities have Legal Sea Foods. I would guess it's the equivalent of going to Morton's for a steak in Chicago. It's good, but I'm sure there are better/less touristy places.

probably mostly [censored] say that. I know a lot of locals who enjoy it. If they complain about anything, it's the crowds, but that's true at most good places to eat.

I think it might be disdained because the chain is growing across the country and people may feel it's lost some local cache. I know other locals (generally older folks) feel Legal's is pricey for seafood, so they'll look down on it too. All I know is I've yet to be disappointed eating at Legal's.

naked fish - a brazilian twist on it + was really good. oishii for sushi, mr. and mrs bartleys burger cottage for burgers. brown sugar for thai and so on.
