Re: nl 200 - JTs

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I'd prefer call preflop, not much value to the raise imo, [/ QUOTE ] It's not for value. This we call bluffing. I could call/fold/shove here just depending on metagame. [/ QUOTE ] Players "bluff" their position so much these days that I think most in SB here wouldn't give it credit for a big hand based solely on preflop play. Sorry, that is what i meant by not much value. [/ QUOTE ] It doesn't matter tha much if he gives us credit for a big hand. He will still fold a lot bc he is opening a wide range from SB and most of them play very badly OOP even if our range is huge. When he is ready to get together and play back we adjust, etc. 3-betting SB opens is definitely something most SS players don't do enough of. |

[/ QUOTE ] Generally I like to maintain strong pot control until I'm ready to commit to the hand, and so normally I'm not a fan of building a pot relative to eff stack preflop with marginal/mediocre hands. Not to say I would fold here pre but just that I'd aim to take it down postflop while keeping pot small until I figure I have best hand or can steal. Against solid players I don't think the 3bet here is a good play. I do like it though if he's weak/easy to steal from pre/postflop, as u say is most likely the case. |

Re: nl 200 - JTs
When an 18/13 calls my 3 bet and the board looks like this, i think i'm check calling flop.

Re: nl 200 - JTs
my flop bet on this board would be around 48-49 and I'd fold to a raise

Re: nl 200 - JTs
Yes. I agree that preflop it is better to call than to raise, especially since our hand is worth dick against his calling range. If you want to bluff why not raise a lot of flops in position?

[/ QUOTE ] no [censored] sherlock... but you are turning a hand with decent implied odds with position into a bluff... why? [/ QUOTE ] Yes, it's a hand with good implied odds and plays well in position. Does that mean that calling has higher EV than raising? Not necessarily, no. I call here a lot of the time but I also 3-bet, because putting pressure on in posiion against someone with a weak range is hugely profitable, especially if you have a hand with some value. |
