WHAT IS GOING ON IN THIS THREAD?

[ QUOTE ]
even if the river was, say, an 8 of hearts, I'd probably just check behind and get a free showdown if I could. I don't think there's enough value to be guessing whether or not you'd be good, so I'd just c/f the hand.

huh?

[ QUOTE ]
Villain has a draw, Q-4 or just a Q here a lot. A bet will take it down from any of these. You might even get a fold from 4-4.

what??

[ QUOTE ]
because q9 is a likely holding for him after the flop

[/ QUOTE ]

rly?

honestly, i must be misreading something or you guys are just insane.

[/ QUOTE ]

what do you put villain on after check/calling the flop with 4 players on the flop?

Villain raises preflop then check-calls top two? I guess it's a line that some might take.

With your stack I push the turn here almost everytime. Villain has raised pre-flop here and the way hes played it really screams aces or kings to me here. Its possible he has 9-10-J-Q
but to not bet the opened ended straight and top 2 on this flop with this many players in? With Aces I can see him checking this flop and possibly making a crying call if someone bet here, bad play but for some reason people hate to let go of aces. He could also have A-A-J-10 that furhter induces a call of your flop bet and another check on the turn. If he has Q-Q I dont think he slowplays this flop. He might possibly go for c/r but by just calling he misses his opportunity to get most of the money in on the flop possibly shutting out draws, so that pretty much rules out QQ. I push here and more likely than not he drops his aces.

will he really drop his aces for $40 more getting 3-1 after he has already invested $30?? from his point of view its just as likely i have pushed with a wrap as 2 pair/set

I think everyone agrees you have to bet the turn here sometimes.

If you're deep a lot of times 1/2 pot it is enough, here if you're not deep just pot and pray.

in the absence of any reads/notes, I usually bet here about 1/5-1/3 of the time, but that may just be my style or the types or games I play in.
