Exchange was mostly about gambling but non-strat at first. Like cardroom reviews and stuff. Slowly the politics and other topics started showing up. So the forum 'Other Topics' came along to divide gambling-non-strat and Non-gambling related at all. When people got overloaded on Politics stuff in OT, OOT was born to segregate political stuff from other OT stuff.

Too lazy to search the archives for dates.

the politics split happened I THINK during the runup to the 04 elections, because i was definitely here for it. sporting events not long after.

I'm still here, although I was just a lurker for many years. But I remember old time posters like Natedogg, Louie Landale and Abdul Jalib, and the days when WSOP updates would be a link to a post in RGP (usually from Linda Johnson) I don't think I ever posted in the Exchange forum. But I browsed it pretty heavily. Actually if I recall correctly, back then one could post even if they weren't registered, which is one of the reasons i didn't register until much later.

This is correct. I remember the politics split happening right around when I joined. I think sporting events split was beginning of 05 after OOT filled with MLB playoff and NFL discussion. There was a surprising amount of controversy about the sports split.

All I remember is "Other Topics" (and also when the zoo didn't suck, and Grannie Mae was funny ).

I think mason's right; I want to say sports split right around spring of 2005. I'm fairly certain Dead getting absolutely owned when Syracuse busted early that March was in OOT.
