I think most other diamonds I would call against villain.

His range was pretty wide here but it was too bigger river bet to call imo. I couldn't see many people trying to win a small(ish) pot, using the overbet, without nuts or close to it, not if he just had trips..

I feel your pain, I think you played the hand correctly tho by folding the river. The seven does nothing for him, and I think the majority of the time villian has the near nuts here.
