Re: How many Buy-ins...
80/60/.3 is a good baseline for a player new to the games.

Re: How many Buy-ins...
Some people will advocate a more aggressive strategy, but I try to see as many flops as possible and also trap my megalomaniac opponents. I run about 50/3/.5

Re: How many Buy-ins...
Um, he's talking about a challenge here. You need 1/5th of a buyin before moving to the next level. Good luck

Re: How many Buy-ins...
Ok, now seriously this is the winning NL strategy. If you use it I can guarantee you can start playing with only 5 buyins and you won't go broke.
PREFLOP: -You want to see flop as cheaply as possible so DON'T RAISE preflop. Only raise when you have a really bad hand and you want other players to fold. For example: You have 72o UTG in 0.5/1 NL game. Raise to $2. If you get reraised you should still call, because you have huge implied odds. No one is putting you on 72o so you can win big monies when you hit. -Good starting hands: All suited, All connected, All one and two gap connected, every hand which contanis at least one broadway card. -Sometimes you should also play some other hands to avoid being predictable. -Position is important so you can play more hands in the blinds. POSTFLOP: - If you flop a monster then slowplay (check/call) until the river. Raise the river! Also make this play with AA,KK. - If you flop a draw then overbet the pot to get a free card on the turn. If you hit the turn the slowplay otherwise check. If you miss your draw then bluff river. About 1/10th of the pot is the right amount. - If you have nothing then bet flop and turn. You want your opponent to fold. - J high is usually not a winning hand so fold it on the river unless oppenent makes a big bet. In that case he's probably bluffing and you should call. |
