Thats not true at all. In most leagues, dominant closers like Ryan, Wagner, Krod, Nathan etc. Start going as early as late 2nd but mosttimes mid 3rd round and on. I dont think i have ever been in a league where no closer is taken until 7.

really, the problem here is that some people regard a closer as a one-category guy. if you're just looking for saves (which you might be in a points league) then this approach is okay. but if you're in a 5x5, to compare ryan to whoever closes in boston is like comparing carl crawford with dave roberts. sure, they'll provide comparable steal totals, but one of them is guaranteed a starting job all year and is leaps and bounds ahead of the other in all the non-steal columns. those advantages add up to a lot.
