Re: Probable cause/Reasonable suspicion?
Unless there is something you signed or provisions with your dorm they can't just search you.
If nothing is sticking out of the bag, the police officer can not search your items. The whole point of a search is if there is reasonable suspicion that it contains contraband (walking into a dorm room with a backpack shouldn't constitute reasonable suspicion). Further, patting someone down and searching them is allowed only for the officers protection, so they aren't going to Terry stop you (and then "stumble on your booze) because there is no reason to think you have a gun or a bomb. Bottom line, your friend is a pussy and you should easily be able to sneak booze in your dorm. And don't carry it in a bitch ass purse either. Since you are 20, you should have also moved off campus once you had the chance so you wouldnt have to deal with this [censored] |

Re: Probable cause/Reasonable suspicion?
[ QUOTE ]
Edit: my friends and I used to have a suite (3 rooms, 2 people per room) and would throw parties in the dorm. We had a beer pong table, several bongs, etc. [/ QUOTE ] Same here. Our RA was the head RA in our dorm and as long as we told him we were partying, he was cool about it. He just wanted to know so he could keep an eye out. Most of the time, he'd join us and tell whatever RA was on duty to be a lookout. We had an empty room in our suite which worked out great. We also kept these huge carts that would be used for moving into and out of the dorm. You were supposed to return them but we just kept them in the empty room. Whoever would go to the beer store would call once they were back outside the dorm. Someone would take the cart down with a blanket, you'd load the cart up outside and then wheel it right in. We first just did cases but eventually moved up to party balls and a few kegs. Wonder why I failed out of college? |
