What if you both have the nut straight ?
I dont see what you are going for here. If you both have the nut striaght, you're going to end up all in right? Why would you both check the nut straight on the river anyways?

[/ QUOTE ]

If you both have a 4 card straight and you're pretty sure you've both got the same hand, and rather than cut out a bet that you know will be called lets divvy the pot and move on.

[/ QUOTE ]

But then you call and realize the villain misread his hand and doesnt have the nuts, so you win a smaller pot because you only called, and then you feel like [censored]

[/ QUOTE ]

alright alright, I still want details as to what sparked this rule ....

Its to try and stop softplaying, there is no reason to not bet/raise the river with the nuts unless you are slowplaying (or trying to prolong the bubble i guess)

We realize that, but what sparked the rule?

Someone obviously did something wrong that made them implement this.

So, who was it? What exactly happend?

I was in Tunica for some of the earlier events. As I understand it, this actually happened at one of the earlier Final Tables and the nuts holder was penalized on the spot.

do they have any limit poker events? You could be 100BB deep and have to put it in one bet at a time.

When I would do this, most often, is if a very, very short stack was against me and raising him would eliminate him, but the other players are obviously waiting on him to bust (as in FT bubble, etc). I like keeping that guy around while I pwn the neighbors - not because I'm playing my buddy soft, but because I want that 'fulcrum' in the game.
