Re: Song Ripoffs
Can't Touch This by MC Hammer and Superfreak by Rick James always sounded a lot alike to me.

Re: Song Ripoffs
I'd provide links if I could find them. The main riff of Smells like Teen Spirit is taken directly from U-Mass's chorus (ie, "it's educational").

Re: Song Ripoffs
FYI - I really tried to find Prom Night. But apparently the soundtrack was only released on a few thousand LPs in Japan. It's now a much sought after collectors item.

Re: Song Ripoffs
First: I Can't Go For That (No Can Do) by Hall & Oates
"Ripoff": Billie Jean by Michael Jackson Daryl Hall is quoted as saying "Michael Jackson once said directly to me that he hoped I didn't mind that he copped that groove (from "I Can't Go For That"). That's okay; it's something we all do." The first minute of "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)" (before the lyrics start) is truly great. |

Re: Song Ripoffs
Father and Son by Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam) and Fight Test by the Flaming Lips is the first one that comes to mind for me. I still like that Flaming Lips song and album though.
