Re: You know you might be a 5CD fish when ...
[ QUOTE ]
If he's going to represent trips, I'm guessing if he bets out after I check to him, he'll get a small 2P to fold enough to make it a winner. IMO, a bet here is mandatory. That's mistake No. 2, and while I'm open to suggestions as to why it's not, the first mistake is nowhere close to being debatable. [/ QUOTE ] I don't play this game, but it seems that checking behind is correct for a reason that has no practical application. You might very well have adequate odds to bet the river after drawing two cards. The problem is you are not playing the hand. The actual player is someone who thinks drawing two cards is a clever play. BB is going to realize that AntiHero is unreliable and the fold equity won't be there. Unless of course this is a first orbit matchup of complete unknowns. |

It is my experience that the vast majority of players trying to run a bluff on a missed draw do so WITH POSITION [/ QUOTE ] i think it might be right to say that the vast majority of good players run this bluff with position i dont think drawing 2 is all that horrible for the reasons stated - i think its generally wrong in this position but for a different reason - drawing 2 assumes your opponent is going to outplay you and thats a bad assumption stripsqueez - chickenhawk |

Re: You know you might be a 5CD fish when ...
[ QUOTE ]
When you draw 2, you look like you have trips. The blinds drawing and calling one means they have a come hand or two pair. Betting here unimproved will often get a fold because the villain believes you have trips. Of course, you should bet for value if you improve as well. [/ QUOTE ] If villian is a thinking player who draws one in the bb you would never draw 3 anyways if you thought you could get him to fold a 2 pair hand, so if villian saw you as a thinking player also he would have c/c as a fairly standard action to you as a button raiser because you would bet anytime checked to, which should kill that reasoning against a good player, and against a bad one they have two pair anyways they wont fold. |

Re: You know you might be a 5CD fish when ...
I did this last night in the .50-$1 PL game. My reason was I was on a steal with 88AJ4, the big blind called and drew 1. If I draw 3 he may fire a bluff into me. If sometimes I draw 2 and he fires a bet I know it's a strong bet and if he checks, I know he was either drawing or had two pair or is inducing a bet or check raising a strong made hand.

Occasionally if my SB always tries to steal me I'll three bet and draw 1 with almost any pair if I think he won't call down with a pair. Sometimes you just have to put your foot down. ANYWAY: You might be a 5CD fish when there is a bet and two calls, then you call with fours up |
