20 minutes or so... I have at times suffered from insomnia and I would recommend anyone that has trouble getting to sleep at night to get some sort of help. Trouble sleeping can cause other problems in life.

When I am exercising regularly, like I am now, it never takes more than 5 minutes after I lay down.

about 20 minutes or so, how often I am awake during the night according to sleeptracker is more interesting though.

I have to take Ambien or Tylenol PM to wind down and fall asleep, otherwise I will not fall asleep until 5-6AM.
TylenolPM takes 2-3 hrs before I'm out, and Ambien is about 1 hr (if I'm drinking, the hallucinations are incredible), and its a solid sleep. DUI |

i think i have a sleeping disorder. it takes me over 30 minutes pretty much every night no matter how tired i am. Its almost discouraging to go tosleep because i know its going to take a while. I started running again the past 3 days, no change.

Six years ago it took 15-30 minutes, sometimes an hour. Now it takes 15 seconds.
My oldest daughter turned 5 in June. |

Tylenol PM [/ QUOTE ] My mom recently bought Tylenol PM to help her go to sleep, and I looked at the active ingredients to find that the ingredient that makes you drowsy is Benadryl. What a gyp. So I guess this is an FYI. The PM in Tylenol PM is Benadryl. |

speaking of sleeping. several times in the 7 years my wife and i have been together i have fallen asleep while shes reading and started to have a nightmare of some kind. in my dream ill know im dreaming and that my wife is awake and ill start making weird noises with my mouth closed because i cant move. im basically yelling from my dream and doing the best i can to get her attention in the real world so she will wake me up. she will hear me after a bit and shake me to wake me up. once im awake shell say "nightmare?" and ill say "yeah thanks for waking me up" and then ill go back to sleep. she thinks thats the weirdest think ever that i can know im dreaming. we get a good laugh out of it the next morning because she says i sound like a dog whining when i do that. [/ QUOTE ] It's really interesting that you can be aware of the fact that you're having a nightmare and do something about it in real life while in your dream state, but not do something about it in the nightmare itself. Usually, when I'm aware of the fact that I'm dreaming, I am able to control myself in the dream. |

How do you know how long it takes? I have no idea how long it takes but I would be surprised if it took longer than 5 minutes if I am tired.
