I would've also watched ESPNClassic's replay of the Oklahoma-Oregon Holiday bowl or ESPNU's replay of Penn State at Michigan football game before watching cup-stacking

ESPN does not actually stand for anything. It started off as Entertainment and Sports Programming Network, but this was dropped when they became ESPN Inc. sometime in the 1980's.
