Re: Is this an obvious push?
[ QUOTE ]
ramrod: I'm suggesting we call and see what BB does on the turn before I decide if he has T9 or the obvious diamond/straight draw. The OP wondered if pushing was correct in this situation (in an attempt to fold out button's draw) -- I don't think it is. If another diamond or straight card falls, I'm not going to be calling any large bets, especially if button is still in the hand. However, if a blank hits and BB checks, I'll think that we're ahead. Is my line of thinking flawed? [/ QUOTE ] No, I was just confused by the question mark after 'call and revaluate on the turn', I thought you were replying/questioning my post. Re: Is this an obvious push?
That thinking is fine but unlikey to win us a big pot here.
If we can raise pot on flop and still get away from heavy turn action on a scare card, this sets us up for large turn bets on a blank which is a potentially very profitable situation for us. |

That thinking is fine but unlikey to win us a big pot here. [/ QUOTE ] You're not going to win a big pot here unless you hit your 4 outer. You're getting reverse implied odds: win small or lose big. I don't think any of our options is good, but calling seems the least bad. If a scare card hits, fold (grudginly). If the turn's a brick, then combo draws substantially lose their value. So bet. Now if anyone's got 88 or T9, you'll find out and you can fold. |
