Re: Maybe the WPT is really dying?
Last night's episode wasn't new. It was the first one of the season I believe. IT was the Borgata event with Jdags, Lindgren, and The grinder. I turned it on midway, I believe Kathy Liebert goes out 6 but I turned it on too late. Jdags wins I believe (I left it early too)
Therefore there should be a thread on it a few monthes old |

Re: Maybe the WPT is really dying?
No, it was a brand new episode, it was just a coincidence that D'Agostino was at both Borgata final tables.

Re: Maybe the WPT is really dying?
While the WPT may be dying slowly anyways, I don't think that 2p2 is exactly a microcosm of the greater base of poker players/fans, so I dont think they are exactly related

Re: Maybe the WPT is really dying?
Are there numbers somewhere (i.e. Nielsen) that show whether viewership is dropping?

Re: Maybe the WPT is really dying?
I normally either forget or remember and turn it on and have it on mute while I do other things around my apartment. They really don't play much poker, it's bio pieces on the players, alot of commercials, Vince and Mike making fools of themselves saying the EXACT SAME THING 50 times an episode, and then two people going all in preflop and them taking 10 minutes to deal the cards out.

I also noticed their numbers entering the tourneys went down, or am I imagining things. I would miss it all the time if I didnt have a DVR. [/ QUOTE ] There are more 10K WPT tournaments than there were last year, and they seem to be able to add 10K events at whim and still draw 300-400 people, more on the east coast. Far more than the WSOP CT events. Yeah, the broadcast sucks, but the tournaments themselves are juicy. |
