I will not bias this poll. I disagreed with a friend regarding this. Input please.

I don't think there's anyway to bias this poll.

I didn't vote because it's hard to compare. But in terms of down the stretch players the new big three is better.
With the old big three, Bird was the only one who wanted the ball for the last shot. With the new big three I think we now have three go to guys. |

Al,
I think he means boston fans who will always pick Bird over all else. Noah, If you're talking primes, it's closer, but either way, Bird/Parrish/McHale wins. Bird is one of the best ever, McHale is a top 5 PF ever, and Parish is one of the best centers ever (maybe top 15 or so). KG is a top 5 PF ever (probably top 2 or 3), but Pierce and Allen don't reach that same height. Given their age and we've missed their true primes, it's not that close, IMO. |

yeah whatever. The top 5, in no specific order, is probably something like Barkley, Malone, Duncan (despite his centerness, he'll be remembered as a 4), McHale, and KG. Here's the part where Vyse throws in some other old timers that I'm not familiar with into the debate and argues about a tangent topic. Whatever. You get my point. The guy is an all time great.

The real question is how you could ever spit on Barkley / Malone like that.

[/ QUOTE ] isn't that exactly what Garnett has taken heat for? anyways, the only reason McHale wasn't an automatic last minute option was b/c he played with Larry Bird. anyways, call Garnett and McHale a wash. then you have 2 great swingmen in Pierce and Allen vs the best swingman ever (Bird) and a a great center in Chief. if you would take Paul Pierce and Ray Allen instead of Larry Bird and Robert Parrish - all other things being equal - then ok. |

From ESPN Page 2.
Please Bill, I beg of you, stop using poker analogies. They are always cringeworthy. Here is one referring to the KG deal. "Looking back, it was like watching the World Series of Poker and seeing someone say "screw it!" by going all-in with a jack-nine of spades after a flop yielded two more spades. Is it smart to risk everything on the 25-percent chance that you'll get the flush? Well, it depends on how many chips you have left. If you're desperate, and you're running out of money, and you need a momentum swing, maybe you do it. If you get the flush, it doesn't mean you were a good poker player, it just means you were losing chips and had to take an enormous risk because you didn't have any other choice." |
