[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] any skiers/snowboarders interested in getting a place somewhere in europe for the ski season this year? I'm thinking something that you can ski in/out and that has a decent nightlife. edit: sick snow/terrain is a must. good terrain park a plus. [/ QUOTE ] why would you prefer europe over us/canadian mountains? we had hardly any good snow (powder...) last season in austria. [/ QUOTE ] Skiing in Europe is AWESOME though imo. What about France or Italy? My favorites are (some probably aren't spelled right but whatever, you get the idea): Val D Isere, France -- great skiing if the weather is good and I think they have pretty good snowmaking - good nightlife as well and a great town that is centrally located around the skiing. Morzine, France ---- better skiing perhaps but less nightlife. Moena, Italy --- probably my personal favorite, good food, good skiing, good nightlife, cheaper than France probably. La Plagna, France ---- they just merged with another ski area right next to them (I forget the name) with a tram connecting the two so lots of skiing and good snowmaking. I would agree that skiing in Europe is different than the US in that you don't get a ton of vertical each day like in Colorado or Utah. However, skiing between villages and having a nice lunch before heading across the village (a few blocks) to hit another gondola is priceless!! I would go for it if you could --- Canada will always be there for another time. . . . . . Also, they had a terrible ski season last year but usually following that is a good year so I think it would be worth the risk. . . . . Kiddmom |
