Re: Pedo\'s web site - is he doing anything wrong?
There is no way this stands. That restraining order was just way too broad and it was obviously crafted just so they could find some reason to arrest him for doing nothing.
Having to remain 30 yards from anyone under the age of 18 in the entire state of California is just not possible. We will need plenty of help if this is not thrown out, because it opens up the door for further abuse of our rights and freedom. |

Re: Pedo\'s web site - is he doing anything wrong?
[ QUOTE ]
Compare this to the abortion doctor wanted poster case from a few years ago (~2002). In that instance they were openly advocating killing specific people, and they gave pictures, home and work addresses. There was also an extra law already on the books that made it illegal to incite violence and threaten abortion performing doctors. [/ QUOTE ] Didn't Law and Order even do a take off on that one. I think some doctors were killed and crossed off the list, iirc. I remember the courts made them take the site down, but not sure they faced any criminal charges. Also not sure if they proved any direct link with those that were trying to kill the doctors. Here, the guy gets legal restraining orders to stay away from kids just based on his thoughts not his acts. I think he's a creep, but that's a little edgy of an area to go into there. b |

Re: Pedo\'s web site - is he doing anything wrong?
[ QUOTE ]
Online gambling is illegal. Perhaps it should be a crime to have a website where gamblers can connect with each other to both find out how to gamble online and how to get better at it? How can you possibly justify letting all those degenerates talk to each other, swapping techniques and methods? Gambling is wrong, so we really should outlaw talking about it. If we work hard enough, maybe we can eventually outlaw even thinking about it. [/ QUOTE ] Yknow, that's a pretty good example. b |

[ QUOTE ]
Do you have any reference to back up these Supreme Court overturns of kiddie porn stuff by the most conservative SC in the history of the country? I think you're just talking out of your ass. [/ QUOTE ] Yknow, I remember something on that. It was something like they fought for the right to have overage models dressed like kiddies instead of using kiddies. That way there wasn't a little kid being exploited or used. I can't remember the outcome of it, though. b |

[ QUOTE ] http://www.law.duke.edu/... http://writ.news.findlaw.com/... And was this the case you thought you heard of recently? That decision was just a week ago. Edit: To add the recent case. [/ QUOTE ] Ok, nice reference. I guess you weren't talking out of your ass. [/ QUOTE ] Or his ass was very articulate. Those were the link/stories that came to my mind. I'm also suprised that that conservative of a court ruled that way. b |

Re: Pedo\'s web site - is he doing anything wrong?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] If this isn't illegal then could I do a website where I help people break into cars and rob defenseless seniors? What about identifying which banks or jewelry stores are easiest to rob and how to do it and on which days? How about areas/parks/24-hour gyms/apartment buildings/whatever where you show people where there is zero security and at what times a specific female always goes there. "I've personally never raped her. But this one is just asking for it and it would be SOOOOO easy....especially for a group of 3 or more to hold her down." I seem to be more and more in favor of censorship of some of the more ridiculous stuff as I grow older. [/ QUOTE ] There is a website in England that promotes (and has resulted in) people of a left-wing persuasion being beaten up, car bombed and so on. The website posts their photo's and home adress etc. Apparently, there is no legal way to close them down as long as there clever in the way they present the information. Article on website [/ QUOTE ] Isn't the obvious fix here to beat the crap out of the people running the website? If someone I knew got attacked because of that site, I know that's what I'd do. |

[/ QUOTE ] With some quick Googling, you can easily find websites that show how to pick locks (in fact, there's a thread in OOT explaining how to break into a briefcase); how to hot wire cars; how to break encryption on software and music; how to build bombs; etc. See, e.g., http://www.instructables.com/id/E9GTO7QF2NOBRLR/ |

Re: Pedo\'s web site - is he doing anything wrong?
I hope in time a broad section of society will be able to understand and in some part accept the nature of pedophilia, as it had homosexuality.
Germany has a wide-reaching social program where instead of condemnation, active support groups are formed so that those with pedophilic leanings don't act on those yearnings. Those that sign up for this program more or less accept a life of chaste celibacy (at least within the German state). If we accept that race, sexuality and religion cannot form basis for discrimination and persecution, it is ethically and intellectually wrong to persecute pedophiles if they do not act on their destructive urges. The act is the crime, the thought a free exercise. Charging this guy on this set of facts is desperately dangerous for First Amendment rights, and akin to inventing a thoughtcrime. |

A very high percentage of people sexually attracted to children act on their attraction, [/ QUOTE ] as someone who has done a great deal of research on sex offender recidivism im interested in your methods for arriving at this conclusion and would like to know what a 'high percentage' is. |
