Re: RAP FANS
Stillmatic was great and so was God's Son. But yes his music is more about himself and less about the streets as the albums progressed. Illmatic is the greatest rap album of all time.
One thing I'll say is that if you haven't listened to Nas since 99' then start listening again. The new stuff is much better than the trash he put out back then (Nastradamus.. what a piece of [censored] album, funny thing is the Lost Tapes had better songs than both Nastradamus and I Am but the songs didn't make the cut). |

[ QUOTE ] What does Tech rap about thats "off the wall?" Just admit you haven't heard any of his music. I read your comment about that Nas song and I honestly don't know what to say to you. You might be the biggest retard I have ever heard of. At the end of the day it's just a fictional story? LMAO [/ QUOTE ] GHB... I love you very much. I think Rewind is AWESOME, but the fact that it's about HIM killing someone was probably the biggest turn off for me. The best NAS song IMO is Undying Love. Check that out. It's another fictional story, but I really dig it. [/ QUOTE ] Rapping about drugs is "off the wall" LMAO again. I do agree with you about the Nas song. Undying Love is also my favorite. But OH NO it's a FICTIONAL STORY!! He obviously didn't kill his wife and then himself while cops were busting in his house. Music is entertainment, Movies are entertainment, most movies are fictional stories. |

Rapping about drugs is "off the wall" LMAO again. [/ QUOTE ] I just don't really think drugs are cool I guess. I have never drank or smoked in my life, so I guess I can't relate. I personally don't see a problem with smoking weed or getting drunk, but I think other drugs best be left alone. Jay very very rarely (if ever) contradicts himself. Nas and Tupac are SO guilty of this. I haven't heard enough of T9's stuff to really get a good understanding, but I think that's something that's very important in an artist. It's easy to just change your whole look everytime a CD drops to get record sales, but Jay stays the same. As far as Nas's stories being fictional, I just think when he includes himself in them it makes them far worse for the fact that YOU KNOW they aren't true and that's why I quickly dismiss them. Most of Jay's stories he's in third person. Imagine how you would look at authors if they included themselves in every book as a main character in all these highly unbelieveable scenarios. Nas doesn't really give himself a chance to make the best possible record IMO. I've only listened to about 10 T9 songs, but I don't remember him saying anything that really blew me away. Nothing with any educational value that made me say "damn" or think long and hard about a subject. Jay does this more consistently than any artist. He didn't crossover, he brought the suburbs to tha hood |
