5/10- stupid thin value against aejones
Villian in this hand is aejones. He opens a huge percentage of his buttons when its folded to him, so playing against him out of the blinds reminds me of playing someone heads-up. I took a very non standard line against him here on both the flop and the river. What do you guys think, given that against him i was never folding the river for 100BB:

Re: 5/10- stupid thin value against aejones
what were you doing on a blank turn? if the answer was get it in I'd just jam flop. River as played I'd just value bet regularly but I don't overbet shove ever.

Re: 5/10- stupid thin value against aejones
I don't think it's thin, but I'd rather bet like $400ish unless he has seen you overbet shove here as a bluff before. I also think checking the river is a viable option giving how this hand played out. Given you didn't shove the flop he likely isn't putting you on a big draw, and unless he has reason to believe you would turn a weak made hand into a bluff here, his value betting range could be wider than his calling range here.

I don't think the river is thin one bit. Infact I think the best way to extract from him is to let him bet the river for you. He should quite often given the fact that there are now 2 overcards to the original TP which should usually scare the crap out of you.

I would check the river because it looks like he missed/has air. Dunno what you expect him to call with here.

Re: 5/10- stupid thin value against aejones
Grunch.
I would repop preflop, since he is opening such a wide range. Given how you got there, I like the flop check. I wouldn't c/r the flop, just calling seems fine. That said, your c/r doesn't look terrible. I like your turn check. I would check the river to give him rope to hang himself. I guess the common theme in my suggestions is that I would definitely play this hand more passively against such an aggro player, who could very well be pumping it with air. Edit: Ugh to be honest I really hate the river, why are you overbet shoving?? You're more likely to get value by letting him stab at it (partially since he will think the board scares you). Disclaimer: I only play this high live. |
