At a table with a maniac who doesn't fold, loves to raise/re-raise preflop and will pay you off in any case when you hit, open limp/call is fine with certain hands. Like any other rule, it helps to know why you are doing what you are doing. |

Using absolutes like "never" and "always" in poker is silly. Having well-defined guidelines is great, but you should be consistently re-evaluating and adjusting your play based on table conditions.
