Re: Official NE Patriots gogogogo to the SB thread
they actually can't franchise Samuel if they win 12 games (contract clause), so throw that one right out!

Re: Official NE Patriots gogogogo to the SB thread
[ QUOTE ]
Here's a 2008 NFL mock draft The Patriots are at #4 and get McFadden. This guy seems to put some effort into his work. So, I assume it's at least a reasonable mock. You college football experts will have to weigh in. [/ QUOTE ] i dunno, he makes no mention of the fact that the pats front office is not inclined to draft that high and invest lots of cap space in a highly replaceable position that in all likelihood represents a marginal upgrade. i would say that by far the most likely scenario is the pats trading down, the only reason not to is if one of the top DE's falls for some reason and they really like him, but i doubt it would happen. most likely scenario = pats trade down. i'd say probably about 3 to 1 but i'm not betting on it. |

with Moss playing as well as he has been, they should really try to keep him

Has anyone mentioned that the line for the Eagles game is 23½ points? The Eagles are 5-5! The really scary thing is theres still no way I'm betting against the Pats. [/ QUOTE ] I've never heard of a line that high in the NFL, maybe there has been but I can't remember one. And how's this? I'm hearing on the radio there is already a Super Bowl line for -14.5 AFC. That's pretty sick imo. |

I'm terrified to think of what the line will be when they play Miami or the Jets.

Re: Official NE Patriots gogogogo to the SB thread
I'd be shocked if the Pats used a top 5 pick in the draft. I would expect them to get whatever they can for that pick. I'm just happy that it's value keeps increasing. Could the Dolphins win a couple of games? If BB decided he didn't care about 19-0, he could punt the game against Miami on 12/23 to help get the #1 pick. FWIW, I think he does want 19-0 and won't do this, but it's a funny possible scenario.

Re: Official NE Patriots gogogogo to the SB thread
The NFL doesn't punish teams for resting starters once they've clinched everything, do they? Of course, they could probably beat the Dolphins with Gutierrez at QB and Eckel at tailback.

Re: Official NE Patriots gogogogo to the SB thread
Theres no point even discussing that imo. Its never going to happen. Even if they decided to throw the game to Miami how would they do that without the game being a complete travesty? Play none of their first team and tell the QB to throw a pick every other play?

Re: Official NE Patriots gogogogo to the SB thread
this pick could totally end up being #2 with how bad the niners are. they may not win another game and if someone ties with them they have an easy schedule, so they'd get the pick.
what do you think the #2 pick would go for with the pats' front office doing the negotiating? or, more interestingly, if you really like one of the available DE's, do you go for him there? |
