It is highly recommended that you book your ferry ticket. The Ferry's especially in weekends are full and I recomend you to book early to save disapointment or hassle of waiting round for ever. [/ QUOTE ] ScottC was asking about the Hong Kong Airport to Macau ferry, which is reserved for passengers transiting through Hong Kong International Airport. Hong Kong residents are NOT allowed to take those ferries departing from Hong Kong International Airport Sky Pier. |

Ferries from HK --> Macau run several times a day w/o reservations needed [/ QUOTE ] Scottc was asking about the Hong Kong AIRPORT to Macau ferry, not the Sheung Wan to Macau ferry or the Tsim Sha Tsui to Macau ferry. The Hong Kong Airport to Macau ferry is reserved for passengers transiting through Hong Kong International Airport. Hong Kong residents are NOT allowed to take that particular ferry. The Hong Kong Airport to Macau ferry runs 7 times a day. Only the first and last ferries are of interest to those who are flying into HKIA from North America. Those who depart North America at around midnight (Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines) will arrive at HKIA early in the morning and will transfer to the first ferry. Those who depart North America late morning (Air Canada, Cathay Pacific, United) will arrive at HKIA in the evening and will transfer to the last ferry at 10pm. |

VERY Important Information regarding Foreign Currency Exchange in the Grand Waldo Casino and generally in Macau: http://www.appt.com/tournaments/maca...OREX_Rules.pdf Important note for all: Please remember we will be guests of the Special Administrative Region of Macau in the People's Republic of China. Even though we'll be playing Texas Hold'em, it's a long way from the Lone Star State. Be respectful (particularly to dealers) at the tables, and certainly to everyone away from them. [/ QUOTE ] Heed Jeffrey's warning on staying out of trouble. Macau, even though it is not Mainland China, is definitely NOT the US or Canada. You don't want to anything which will cause you to be paraded by Macau's finest, in front of TDM TV news cameras for its daily "perp walk" segment, in handcuffs with a paper bag over your head. (I am NOT joking about Macau's version of the perp walk. Watch the newscasts on http://portugues.tdm.com.mo/eng_news.php and see for yourself.) |

It is much quicker to just take the train to Central and then a quick taxi drive to the Macau ferry terminal. Clearing immigration + train can not take much more than an hour. Heli services are available to Macau from the Central terminal too, but I don't know if it would worth the money. |

Re: The APPT Macau: The First Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament in China!
I'm planning to come over from HK on the Thursday. Is it still going to be possible to buy in to the main event on Thursday afternoon?
Also can you confirm the "big names" who will be there for either event? Looking forward to this very much. |

Re: The APPT Macau: The First Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament in China!
I've been watching some old Hong Kong movies, so I have more questions.
At the final table, will bow ties and evening dresses be prepared for the contestants? Will God of Gamblers theme music play as the contestants walk in to take their seats? Will there be stacks of $100 bills used instead of chips? Will there be Swiss bankers on hand to certify and mark good any cheques the contestants want to use as cash? |

[/ QUOTE ] Registration will open at 1000 on Thursday and I expect the lineup to start around 0900 (or maybe earlier). I have no idea when the event will sell out, but it most probably will sometime on Thursday. We're holding 10 seats for each of the Mega Satellites and you might be able to qualify through those if you don't arrive in time. [/ QUOTE ] Sorry, just to make it clear for a newbie like me, qualified players are not required to be there before it is sold out because their seats are already secured, right? Even if it is sold out on Thursday they can still come to the registeration desk on Friday morning and sign the documents and play. Correct me if I am wrong. |
