Lead in paulson chips
Just thought I would give some of you the heads up, but I have read in a few places now that there has been high amounts of lead found in paulson chips. I don't personally have a set but I know many of you do, and I would have liked to know about if I did.
http://www.businessweek.com/ap/finan.../D8SPQI101.htm I copied this link from the B&M forum. |

Re: Lead in paulson chips
Another reason not to eat your chips. Or to get ceramics. Lead is used in paint and China has no regulation. Some chips are made with brass to make them heavier. You can see the flecks of it in the sides.

Re: Lead in paulson chips
I guess I'll have to sell my superfund site to someone else. Apparently, the dangers aren't really that bad. You may want to wash your hands after playing, but you should be doing that anyways, especially at casinos. |

Re: Lead in paulson chips
The concern is primarily about kids getting them in their mouths.... but, if you let young children chew on your good chips, you deserve a KITN anyway.

Re: Lead in paulson chips
Here is another article about the lead, with some more disturbing revalations:
[ QUOTE ] The highest in our lab tests: A Caesar's Palace chip - made by Paulson. It's 45 percent lead....750-times higher than the standard. Humble was shocked when we showed him the lab results. "Your top chip is nearly half lead. I think there's really no doubt that these results are going to end up causing a chain-reaction throughout this country that's going to really end up with the recall of this product." [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] We discovered even more than lead on and in the chips. When the chips are handled, tiny particles, that can be inhaled, flake-off. We sent those particles to the same lab. They too came back positive for lead. An inhalation risk that Will Humble says is very real for people who work in casinos or make the chips. "1000 parts per million? Ya,that's too high, way too high." [/ QUOTE ] I would be concerned if I owned these, and very concerned if I worked in a casino handling these chips. |
