Anyone been to Winstar in OK lately?
Just searched for posts for past week and didn't find any. Been several months since I drove up there but I'm getting the urge again.
What days/times seem best? Was thinking of driving up tomorrow during the day but I'm not sure if there is much going on on a Thursday afternoon? Friday afternoon/night be better or is it a zoo on Fridays? Thanks for any updates on Winstar! |

Re: Anyone been to Winstar in OK lately?
Winstar sucks.
Well, that's not entirely fair. I did send them an email regarding some changes they should consider to bring their poker room up to par with others, and they sent me a generic reply that also was sent to two others who made similar attempts to contact management. So, if you like playing poker in a room that's fifty degrees with incompetent floor people and enjoy paying the highest rake among any legal card rooms, then by all means, dig in. I cant understand what idiot, total complete moran, decided to take the $1 bad beat jackpot drop from the small blind before the hand is even dealt. Most annoying thing ever in a poker room. Yeah, [censored] Winstar. -Tex |

There's 1-2NL and 4-8 games going 24/7, both soft as a baby's bottom. Most of the time there's 2-5 and 5-10NL going as well.

Re: Anyone been to Winstar in OK lately?
Thanks for the info...
As far as the Winstar sucks line, high rake is one of their problems? Last I was there it was I think $6 max on the 2-5 anyway. That is bad? Where is legal poker near Dallas with a lower rake than that and as much action? Seriously asking - I'd love to go someplace else but Winstar is the only decent one I know of. Been to Chocktaw but it's farther for me and it was icky last I went (some time ago though so they may have upgraded since.) Thanks guys! |

Have you tried Riverwind? It is further into Oklahoma than Winstar, but I liked it.
I liked it due to the fact the casino was well lit and plenty of room. I found the actual poker play (I was playing $1/$2 NLHE) all over the map though. |

Yeah, the rake is very high, but the games are generally pretty soft. I was there last weekend...the room was about half full, but it's a pretty big room now.

Re: Anyone been to Winstar in OK lately?
Again thanks - but when you guys say the rake is high, compared to where?
Compared to underground local (Dallas) rooms, Winstar is a great deal. Especially at 2/5 as the rake at 2/5 and 1/2 are the same. I know it may be high compared to Vegas or something but where, within 100 miles of dallas, is the rake way lower? |

Re: Anyone been to Winstar in OK lately?
Winstar might not be the best run place, but the new room makes it pretty nice to play. I was just up at Cherokee in Tulsa last week and the room is right in the middle of the place. The slot noise was annoying! They did not have a drop for the bad beat jackpot, but it is almost impossible to beat anyways.
As for the choices avaiable from Dallas, winstar seems pretty good to me. I would just like the management to run the room a little better and have the empoyees be a little more enjoyable to be around. See ya there! |

Re: Anyone been to Winstar in OK lately?
I haven't been there since this summer, when I was there twice a week. The room is nice, but freaking cold. rake is crazy, but play is so bad on friday and saturday that it's nuts. it's almost like an ATM.
