Re: The Right Brain vs Left Brain test
wow, when this first link was posted I could only do it counter-clockwise, even though I tried to see clockwise for about 30 minutes. now i am high off my ass and I focused my mind and got it to go both ways.

Re: The Right Brain vs Left Brain test
[censored] this i CANNOT get it to go anti-clockwise either no matter how hard i try.
this reminds me of the old woman/young/woman optical illusion trick. look at the pic below. do you see an old woman first or a young woman? |

Re: The Right Brain vs Left Brain test
This is cool, It's actually quite easy once you get the hang of it.
I found if I just watch the tip of her foot on her raised leg when she gets to the edge of each side you can swing her like pendulum and if I look away she will spin in whichever direction I want until I focus on the foot again. |

Re: The Right Brain vs Left Brain test
i'm tellin ya, if you want to see it go counter-clockwise:
focus on the very bottom, the shadow of the figure. Mainly the shadow of the tip of her elevated foot. It starts on the bottom right corner and arcs to the bottom left corner. Keep your eyes on this foot shadow, follow it as if it is making a full counterclockwise ellipse even though the bottom half 180 degrees is cut off from the screen. Ok, so you're following the ellipse rotation many times. Now, slowly move your eyes up while maintaining the counterclockwise rotation (like drawing a tornado with your eyes from the bottom up). As you are looking from the legs up to her body, hopefully you will see the whole figure goin counter. Hope this helps. |

Re: The Right Brain vs Left Brain test
I'm so tilted right now. If I block out the entire image but the shadow I can see it is turning counter clockwise, but as soon as I see any part of the spinning dancer I can only see it clockwise. It's driving me insane.

Re: The Right Brain vs Left Brain test
Maybe the discepancy has to do with this: From our vantage point (looking at the dancer "straight on"), clockwise/counter clockwise don't really make sense. You need to be looking at the dancer from above or below to assess clockwise/counterclockwise. So in your mind you need to choose a vantage point of above or below the dancer. And something that spins clockwise when looked at from above, spins counterclockwise when looked at from below, and vice versa. When I look at this picture, I see rotation that I would describe as: counterclockwise with respect to an observer above the dancer, clockwise with respect to an observer below the dancer. Are people seeing the opposite of this?

I've spent some time on the counter-clockwise one starting at different corners and shadows and covering parts up and it doesn't help me at all. I don't feel that thing helps me get any closer to seeing it the other way. |

Are people seeing the opposite of this? [/ QUOTE ] Yes, some people are seeing the opposite of that. They can see it spin EITHER way. I am not one of those people. I can only see it spinning one way. |
