$5.50 - KK
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (6 handed)

Flop: (t325) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) BB bets t50, Hero raises to t275, BB calls t225. Turn: (t875) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) BB bets t200, Hero folds. Final Pot: t875 No particular read on villian. He's a winning player (profited ~$1800), but I didn't know this before the hand began so not sure that it's relevant. As far as the hand is concerned, when he led out on the flop, I thought it was possible he had a weak ace and wanted to "see where he was at," so I thought he might fold to a raise or would c/f the turn. Of course, when he led out on the turn, I decided to give up. Thoughts? Did I play this crazy? |

Re: $5.50 - KK
i think the raise on the flop is a good move but i think u have to give it up on the turn. of course its annoying as hell when he is betting 1/4th the pot and i have found from experience that shoving there has been costly. everytime ive had this same situation a guy has a weak ace. now at bigger buy in sngs you could get him off his ace with an all in but at this level expect the guy to call a turn shove with any ace

Re: $5.50 - KK
Your raise on the flop does nothing. He will call you with any aces.
Just call and reevaluate on the turn. |

Re: $5.50 - KK
Call flop, keep getting value from worse hands while keeping the pot under control. We have the Ks so not as worried about draws.

Re: $5.50 - KK
I am actually used to playing even lower levels than this (pathetic I know but trying to carefully build a bankroll) and would generally just call as everyone seems to suggest. Having said that, I suppose I made this move as I thought players at this level were slightly more competent and were sometimes capable of laying down a hand. Guess not.
Thanks for the advice. |

Re: $5.50 - KK
What were you trying to fold out? You won't be folding out any better hands at a 5.5, even at most stakes.

What were you trying to fold out? [/ QUOTE ]A weak ace (either on the flop or the turn). I should've just called.. just wasn't sure what to do. I think I sometimes get a little too aggressive when people bet into me (it pisses me off). |

Re: $5.50 - KK
Yeah, try & not be emotional about it. It's tough to fold out weak aces in 5.50s unless you are going to run the bluff the whole way.

Yeah, try & not be emotional about it. It's tough to fold out weak aces in 5.50s even if the board also had 2 kings and 2 queens on it. [/ QUOTE ] FYP |
