I'm a bit jealous of the rest of y'all. So many of you live in the west, or close enough to Vegas to visit. I'd love to meet some 2+2ers, but never seem to make it out that way.
Dom, I for one loved the art/porn, although I can see why some found it offensive. |

[ QUOTE ]
Blarg, So do you never go to the B&Ms in LA then? If you were cart counting etc. I was under the impression that you would go to live casinos. I like the pace of a B&M. I don't mind going there and donating $100 when I can afford it, so long as the table is lively enough. Sometimes I win, but mostly I go just infrequently enough that I don't get annoyed by little things, like the fact that nearly every limit hand is won by someone sticking around and hitting a 3-outer on the river. Given my history there's no doubt I'm a fish and that people should be happy to see me coming, but I play to have fun and interact with people. [/ QUOTE ] I used to practically live at the Commerce Casino in L.A. area. Been to all the others there too. The card counting was in Reno. I like B&M's, but don't really go anymore. I wouldn't mind going again I suppose. Would be a change of pace. I think I'm more competitive than you are when it comes to games though. I don't mind losing once in a while, but not as a habit. That makes me feel like an idiot or reprobate. I would never be happy being a consistent donator even if I had a billion bucks. If I went back to B&M's, it would undoubtedly be to play hold'em, which again, I'm only mediocre at. Some inherent frustration for my personality type, there. I haven't been playing for a while too, so it would take some serious bookwork to get whatever middling chops I used to have back. I also did quite a bit of merciless grinding at casinos, so after a while of that, the trips become less about kicking back and enjoying the "scenery" and people and more like a challenge mixed with, well, a job. I would never drink while playing, for instance. I like cards more for the challenge than the fun, unless it's with friends at home, and even then, I still like playing my best. But I'll allow myself as many beers as I feel like and relax a lot more. |

Wow, I never realized that the player had such an edge doubling on soft totals that they decided to disallow them. Unless you're referring to doubling on a 9, my blackjack is a little fuzzy but that generally seems like a bad idea if I had to guess. The type of idea that a casino wouldn't object to.

It's moot now anyway, the Reno casino industry has collapsed with the rise of California Indian casinos. Arrogant bastards went down the tubes rather than accept the challenge.

I hardly use this site at all for poker learning :P Kind of dumb, but whatever.
What I really like is the politics forum, which is where I spend most of my time, and I'm very glad for it. Introduced me to a lot of different ways of thinking about government, and a lot of the discussion there has given me more ability to discuss similar topics in real life, as well as a greater knowledge of the constitution. Anywho, very happy with the time I spend at 2+2, if only for those reasons. |

OP, I hope you are refering to 2+2 in general because i would love to answer this question.
2+2 has changed my life in more than one way, -I improved my poker skill (although now i just hit up the communities) -I was introduced to the PUA community (as a result of reading numerous "how do i get this girl" threads), which has been one of the greatest and most fulfilling journeys of self discovery I have ever embarked on. -I found something to do while crashing on Aderol after a 12 hour study session. Almost every post i have ever made has been while on Aderol. -This site has provided me with countless laughs. All in all, 2+2 is the most entertaining and informative website I have ever found. Thank you Two Plus Two -brinks |

The movie 'American Gangster' reminded me of the fact that I had originally read the article that inspired it after seeing the link posted in OOT. This is an example of why I spend the time I do here on 2p2. I'd never have seen this otherwise:
