Re: UTG is the new button
i will OCCASIONALLY raise w low suited connectors in ep as a mixture play. i think the utg raise has lost a bit but not a ton of respect. if players see you raising more than rarely from ep they will pick you off.

Re: UTG is the new button

nobody respects an UTG raise anymore so save yourself some t$ and quit raising trash UTG for the most part in the early stages of tournamnets because playing with hands OOP early sucks; however, you may want to vary your game a little if deep by making a raise UTG early and folding to an RR because then, especially in DS tournaments, you get tremendous action when you have a power hand. Also, later on in tournaments, a raise UTG with a lesser hand can be fine if table conditions dictate. I don't think we need to make catchphrases like "UTG is the new button," because really, it's not so much players lack of respect for your position as it is that playing OOP almost always sucks without a strong flop plan. . Re: UTG is the new button
just because you saw this happen a couple times doesn't make it true.
people are still raising fairly tight ranges utg and are 3 betting tighter ranges against an utg in my experience |
