Default Re: Do higher limit players normally play horribly when playing down?

There's a 100/200 limit player in my local room that sometimes sits in on the 10-200 spread. Max buy-in is $1000 and he knows this, but he will always ask for $10,000 and pulls out 2-3 rubberbanded wads of Benjamins.

Anyways, he does this to try and intimidate the table by implying 10-200 limit is chump change to him. He will always raise the first pot 5-6x, bet every street, and show down 73o, which miraculously turns out good. He'll the get AA , play it the same, and gets plenty of action.

I think it's like online players who normally play 1/2 and screw around .01/.02 to blow off steam.

Sometimes I think they might be advertising. When a 20/40 player sits down at a 10/20 table donking off his chips. The 10/20 players might take a shot at the 20 game thinking its filled with LAG players.

Not that I'm a high limit player but I will often play in a smaller game while I am waiting on the list. I don't know that I play "bad" but I intentionally don't really focus like I normally do. I can only concentrate for so many hours straight and I'm pretty much just playing 4/8 or 1/2 because it's more entertaining than watching tv.

When I sit with my friends at 1/2 or 3/6, I'm most definitely not putting in the same time focusing on the game as I would 20/40 or 40/80.

The same goes when I play $1 stud SNGs or microlimit Omaha for fun.
