math 117 question
first off if i finsish 4th in another double shootout i might flip. but i have a math question and i have the answer but i do not know how to get it completely.
let P=(x,y) be a point on the graph of y=(xsquared^) -6 answer is all in square root box d=x^4-11x^2+36 i understand how to get x to the fourth and 36 but where does the 11x squared come from i cannot solve this.. |

I take it you're talking bout the distance to (0,0).
d=sqrt[(x)² + (x²-6)²)] // Pythagoras =sqrt[x² + x^4 - 12x² + 36] =sqrt[x^4 - 11x² + 36] |
