Any time your showdown equity % for a particular street is above 100/numberofopponents then your correct action is to raise. [/ QUOTE ] Umm, no. |

[/ QUOTE ] Sure it is - lets say you have three opponents in a pot and you had more than 1 in 3 chance of winning by showdown the correct move then is to bet or raise. Its just simple maths. |

Re: a hand from 1/2 razz
It is probably more correct to say that raising has a positive expectation, but not necessarily the most positive expectation. Also, meta-game concerns, etc. With a cluetard in the hand though I have a hard time not jamming 4th. Heads up I feel there is less reason to jam early cheap streets when you have an edge, if not jamming will make more money on future streets. More than 3 handed I am a little more interested in clearing the field than earning a small expectation, exceptions being if my equity is waaaay over 1/N.

Rusty - the concept is being taken out of context, its not good to apply here. I'll revisit the thread shortly to explain why, not enough time at the moment. Thanks for the page #, I knew of the example but I needed to know where it is in the book to explain why its not applicable. I'll get back to you soon, sorry for the delay. [/ QUOTE ] So, any update on this? |

Players individually stress one over another to varying degrees. No method is more CORRECT than another. [/ QUOTE ] Oh come on... There is a perfect strategy in razz. There is correct and there is incorrect and nothing between. Razz is a game where you have to adhere to the percentages and as such there is a perfect optimal mathematical strategy in razz which is unbeatable. By optimal, I mean a strategy that pushes every small edge to the max with no concerns of bankroll... if you have .00001% the best of it you should pump the pot. Yes, you can could have a strategy where you only push bigger edges to cut down on the variance. However this is not perfect nor optimum play. Your ideology is flawed...lets say I created a 'method' of play where I was going to call everyhand on 3rd and then just raise only, to think that it wouldn't be any better than any other is just lunacy....lol |

Re: a hand from 1/2 razz
If this started 4 handed (which the hand history says it did), I cant really find any fault in the way it was played. There is at least some chance that 6 paired, and if 8 is willing to donate to the pot, I think we have to let him do so (Although I would be happy to be corrected here). After 4th street you are locked in unless you catch a K on the river.
