Attn: All Noobs
There is a thread in uNL called Get your noob out, part 2 where you can basically ask any poker-related question and one of the mods will answer it for you.
The summary reads: Got a question you think is too noobish to ask? Afraid your post will get locked because it's stupid? Think you've got a frequently asked question that isn't in the FAQ? In the second annual installment of Get Your Noob Out we're inviting all of you to post your noob questions - as silly as you think they might be - in this thread. This thread is reserved for ON TOPIC questions only. This is not "Ask EMc Anything." Attempts to troll this thread (where the mods will be politely providing answers) will be met with swift bans. |

Re: Attn: All Noobs
Hey all. I'm starting to look at my game from hand to hand as opposed to street to street. Should I base my betting patterns on what I'm trying to achieve, or on what kind of hand I have?
Should my thought process be: I want a big pot, what's the best way to do this? OR I have a set, which means I bet this way... Hope that's not too muddled. |

Re: Attn: All Noobs
i'm pretty fishy, but i dont' think there is an answer to this question.
in my mind you should not play your hand, but the situation: How many opponents are in the pot, do they play loose or tight, how big are the stacks, how dangerous is the board/open cards? not sure what you mean by not playing "street to street", because every card can change the situation significantly. what do i miss? btw great thread. |

Re: Attn: All Noobs
Omaha noob here: Do you have any general tips on bet sizing? I'm getting a bit confused of all the different tips I get: read in this article that it's almost always best to bet the pot to chase away drawing hands. At the same time I've been watching some cardrunners videos and it looks like the size of their c-bet at least often is smaller. Also, Ciafofone suggests in his book that you should be betting pot unless a flus or a boat is possible. In the last cases you're making an "either-or-bet", ie. you either do have what you're representing and either have it or are bluffing, and he suggests a 1/2 to a 3/4 pot sized bet.
Appreciate any help, thanks! |

To all posting questions in here- if you want the beginners forum to answer them, cool, keep posting... If you want the mods to answer them as OP pointed out, you need to post them in this thread:
