Re: [PLO 50] 2nd Set faces big river bet
Given his stats, this a call that you should probably make, but you really kinda butchered this hand. There is really no reason to slowplay this flop IMO; just pot it and work from there... Then again, I play very LAG so I pot just about everything in this spot, from a wrap draw, bottom 2, top set, etc.. I don't think villain having AAxx here is the threat - being shown 3/5 would suck but it's a lesson that you learn from slowplaying...

Raise the flop. As played don't fold to a guy with these stats. A small case could be made for raising, but call is probably best option.

Re: [PLO 50] 2nd Set faces big river bet
i think this is 3/5 alot - he obviously liked the raggy flop enough to bet, and if hes got 222 or 444 in think he repots the turn, as the 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] makes alot of wraps possible if you have called with a rundown including a J.
i think in the heat of the moment, given his stats i call this, but when you look at it playing here i think its A35x or similar probably enough to fold |

Re: [PLO 50] 2nd Set faces big river bet
This hand is meet the wheel. If it was a lower set like 4s or 2s you get reraised on turn. I will almost always raise this flop in position. Call on river is ok.

Re: [PLO 50] 2nd Set faces big river bet
Why did you call on the button? I certainly would have raised and/or re-raised because you have a pretty good starting hand and you are also in position! Also, I would have bet hard on the flop to attempt to get rid of anyone with 53. On the flop I would have put him on any set or decent two pair - if the villain also had 53 well I would have bet and called just like he did. On the river I reckon he made his straight - looking at his bet and stack size, his bet was close to half of his stack; here's my logic: if you had re-raised him to put him all-in, he would have gone all-in; therefore, he probably had the straight. I would have folded.

Re: [PLO 50] 2nd Set faces big river bet
I just want to be the one who says the flop play is ok some of the time. The flop really is non threatening, calling is a gamble whereas shoving will win the pot then and there most of the time.
I would be really surprised to see a player that raises so infrequently raise in the SB with 35xx. If the river donk bet is really a strong hand then I would see AAxx here more often. Hard to lay this down with his river AF too. |

Hi Mr. Wheel, have you met my set?
If he doesn't have AAXX or a wheel, I would be very surprised. |

Re: [PLO 50] 2nd Set faces big river bet
Definitely raise preflop. You're OTB and it's 4-handed, you should almost never be limping here.
The flop's OK, but I'd like it better if villain had potted it. I'd tend to raise here because I usually have an aggressive image anyway and you need to build a pot. As a side note, if you'd raised preflop, a slow-play would be much more feasible. The river's tough. Part of me thinks that this is a spot where the donkish stats will lead you astray and you'll be beat a lot with the PFR making AA seem very likely. On the other hand, he might have raised with some kind of high cards that picked up a draw on the turn and then decided to bluff the river specifically because he thinks you'd put him on AA with the PF raise. That's certainly consistent with his river AF. I think a fold's probably the correct play, just because he raised from the BB and with a 3 PFR, that almost has to be AAxx. Do you have any other reads? Knowing whether he likes to bet the pot more often with made hands or with bluffs could be enough to swing this decision. |
