Highly recommend Paul Fussell. [/ QUOTE ] He wrote the introduction to the edition I have of With the Old Breed by E.B. Sledge. Sledge was featured throughout Ken Burn's documentary. I'm rereading the book now, a plain spoken yet harrowing account of Peleliu and Okinawa told from the perspective of an infantryman written from notes many years after the war. ~ Rick |
