Canadian gambling laws
Is it legal to gamble online in Canada? I ask because I live 20 minutes from the border in the U.S.and due to the hassle of funding my online account, I'm thinking of just taking a drive up to Canada and wiring from there. If anyone sees a flaw in this let me know. I thought it would be worth a try.

Re: Canadian gambling laws
The problem you would have is that you still have a US residence and this is what concerns the sites that block US players.
As far as I know, online poker is mostly legal in the US and Canada. It can be argued it breaks some state laws. Lots of US players play on FT and PS. It's the transaction processors that the Government has targeted. C |

Re: Canadian gambling laws
That is correct. I don't understand how he is having this much trouble with funds. All the major sites accept either Western Union or MoneyGram so loading funds shouldn't be an issue.

Re: Canadian gambling laws
I was under the assumption Western Union fell under the banking regulations concerning UIEGA. What is a moneygram and where can I do this?

Re: Canadian gambling laws
Moneygram is the cheaper version of Western Union. Basically the very same service. In Canada they are at Post Offices but in the States I think they are at Walmarts. You can look up a location on their website.

Re: Canadian gambling laws
Thanks. I always funded through cc's but over the last couple of months epassporte keeps rejecting them. These cards are registered with epassporte and i never had a problem until recently. I tried new cards and they won't accept those either. None of my cc's have ever worked directly with FT or Stars.

Re: Canadian gambling laws
I believe until the end of the year but it may be longer. They are fighting that one right now due to tourism demands plus all the people who regularly cross the border for work are in a big tizzy about it. I can understand. It's a pain now and it's going to get worse

Re: Canadian gambling laws
You can cross at land crossings with no passport. Flying you need a passport.

Re: Canadian gambling laws
You will need a passport to cross at land crossings also in the near future if the govt has its way. I think it starts at the end of this year as of now
