I am a little unsure about poker tracker numbers... so feel free to straighten me out, but I believe he was 46/9 over 120 hands. <--- Don't really know what that means or if I am missing other numbers.
A more practical read was that in the 20 minutes I had been at the table I saw him win two pots by calling down with an open end straight draw and a flush draw and hitting both so I didn't think he was one to play a draw aggressively. http://www.pokerhand.org/?1578283 Here is the hand, let me know what you guys think. Thank you. |

I wouldn't fold here. He could show up with a big A or A9, A8 that he thinks he "slowplayed" on the flop by just calling. If he's been playing a lot of connectors, you have to decide if T7 and 57 are enough inside his range.....but that thinking is too advanced if it makes you want to fold sets. Call.

It's pretty ugly if they have the straight unless it's a combo of some sort. This could 2 pair I gotta shove.

I did call, and I am glad you guys are supporting a call.
This guy showed up with AA out of nowhere to stack me. Next question is did I get outplayed or just unlucky? |

[/ QUOTE ] Set over set is something that happens every once in a while. Sometimes you are the beneficiary and sometimes you are the donator. Long term it should even out. Pretty much every time you flop a set, your goal should be to get all in. Not getting the most amount of money in the pot in situations like this would end up costing you much, much more than just paying off the rare times someone has a bigger set. |

No shame in set over set.

With a set, unless the board is uber-coordinated (i.e., 3-flush w/ str8 draws) I'm looking for ways to get money in the pot. It sucks to get trapped like this but you'll win these confrontations a lot more than you'll lose... I would definately take a note on this guy tho
