[ QUOTE ] pretty asenine that you're not giving odds when the dems are the clear favorites to win no matter who they put out /politics [/ QUOTE ] How is that assinine? I am not forcing anyone to take the bet, if they think republicans have a shot, put up the money, if not, don't. A million things can happen between now and the election. If the Dems do elect Hillary or Obama for their candidate I will give you whatever odds you want the Dems won't win, and you know there is a good chance they might. I will gladly give you odds once the democratic candidate is selected, but until that is known, considering the Dems possibility of selecting one of those two, I think it is pretty even. [/ QUOTE ] gonna hold you to this if and only if hillary becomes the nominee (i say this as a bleeding california liberal) EDIT: wait, i'm confused. you're saying the dems WILL lose if hillary/obama is the nominee? |

EDIT: wait, i'm confused. you're saying the dems WILL lose if hillary/obama is the nominee? [/ QUOTE ] Yes. The repubs have pissed enough people off, even their own, that if the two candidates are even somewhat vanilla (middle of the road bland), the Dems will easily win. But if the Dems elect a woman, or a minority with the name Obama as their candiate, they will still lose. And no, I am not a chauvinist or racist, but too much of the country still is. |

Re: can california seriously get any gayer?
I mostly agree with Greg's conclusion, but I think both Hillary and Obama have much larger liabilities than their race or gender in a general election.

I think both Hillary and Obama have much larger liabilities than their race or gender in a general election. [/ QUOTE ] 100% agreed. I did not mean that it was the main reason why they will lose, but combined with the rest of the issues, the female/race issue will be enough to result in a loss. |
