Re: Partypoker blackjack
Being able to control your impulses is all part of being a great poker player. The edge between solid players is negligible. Avoiding the urge to dump money on table games at casinos is all part of being professional. Ivey is one example of someone able to overcome those leaks. Most don't. The majority of "pros" are close to busto or are there.

Re: Partypoker blackjack
[ QUOTE ]
I agree that it's definitely a leak but it doesn't really say whether you're a good poker player or not. It's just one of those other things that make you a much worse professional gambler. [/ QUOTE ] I believe there is a correlation between intelligence and poker skill. I also believe there is an inverse correlation between intelligence and playing blackjack (assuming no card counting). So playing blackjack and having one of the criteria of a good poker player is inconsistent. If the person knows it is stupid to play blackjack but can't control themselves then they have no disciple and being a bad poker player is the least of their worries. Lack of disciple makes being successful at anything very difficult and makes it impossible at anything gambling related. |
