lol at biased hh's

lol at you posting stupid [censored] like this without bothering to read jman write "Here's every hand that I won or lost >$10k in."

It's nice when good players post here. It's [censored] when people like you make ignorant comments in response.

anyways... sorry if offended anyone with the fact that i don't readily accept everything someone (be it someone with the admiration of 2+2 such as Jman) posts - esp. when they may be trying to prove they are +ev against someone, which the majority of this thread has disagreed with.

if the hh's are pure and it is ALL of them then thank you Jman for posting them

That's not my point, my point is your opponents react differently to you when they have "momentum" in a HU match. This adds quite a bit more variance to the game at the very least, and at the most makes it much harder for you to win.

[/ QUOTE ]
.... in other words you play worse when you're losing. And your opponent plays better when he's winning. Right. Established. So by "disagree" you meant "agree 100% wholeheartedly".

[/ QUOTE ]

Wow, you're just not gonna lay off this point, huh?

I was impressed by Caby's point in the first place, and then even more impressed by the fact that the next guy (D Lizzle?) actually managed to state a really tough point even more eloquently.

It seems to me it's not a question of playing better or worse; it seems it's a question of the game changing so drastically that it's hardly the game you logged in to play in the first place.

It a tough point to make, and I think it's goofy to mock the guy for trying to make it.

For what it's worth, and objective person could understand your perspective, as well. I assume you're saying that if the game changes (momentum), a WCP ought to be able to adapt on the spot, and that it is part of the game.

Fair enough, but it seems to me that whatever it is that causes this shift is not really definable, and that if you are on the short end of the shift, mowing the lawn for an hour or two is not the worst idea in the world sometimes.

This hand makes me think of Phil G's recent article about making hero calls, where he says the ones which work get all the attention and people forget the ones which didn't. I guess this was one of those ones which didn't work!

[/ QUOTE ]Does anybody have a link to this article?

Also, why does Bluff magazine search section doesn't have Phil Galfond as an author in the dropdown?

In particular, his stop-loss strategy and tendency to buy in short means you're VERY unlikely to take him for a big score. He quits as soon as he starts to lose.

So why does anyone play him?

[/ QUOTE ]
You're right. Ivey has figured out a stop loss strategy that makes it -EV to play him. Unexploitable.

[/ QUOTE ]

If you're being ironic, I don't care.

The guy quits when he's down at most 100k , what you going to do? Your losses will be bigger than your wins.

[/ QUOTE ]

Stop loss strategy's are only good if you play worse when losing. There's no other benefit to them EV-wise.

Yes, I think I'm +EV vs. Ivey.

[/ QUOTE ]

your opponents will also play better when you are losing and they are winning too though.
