I only remember seeing that for NCAAB I've just tried to adjust the numbes myselves through guesstimation [/ QUOTE ] Oh, that's probably where I remembered it from. It seemed weird that I couldn't find the numbers anywhere with a Google search if it was actually out there. |

I did an adjusted rush O, rush D, pass D, pass O for every BCS team but only in conference games for 2006.

Re: Week 5 NCAAF Early Lines Thread
Not blown away by WV. They were pretty awful for a significant stretch of their Marshall game.
They beat the crap out of ECU though although it appears ECU isn't much these days despite their close-ish game at VT. Auburn might not have been fully motivated for USF but they were at home and USF still beat them and I remain impressed. I rate USF's blowout win over UNC about even to WV's blowout win over ECU. UNC and ECU played a pretty even-ish game against each other. USF getting 7 points at home is a nice line imo. Like others at the beginning of this thread, I would have expected WV to be more like 4 pt faves on the road for this one. This line implies that WV would be 10 pt faves on a neutral-field or 13 pt faves at home vs. USF and I just don't think USF is as likely to get blown out of the water as Marshall, ECU or MD. USF can play and I think they can keep up with WV and keep the game close-ish. |

Re: Week 5 NCAAF Early Lines Thread
Surprised there's no talk of SYR after their big win last week.
I sadly admit that I like SYR at -1.5 at my alma-mater of Miami, Ohio. Miami competed with a Ball State team that now appears to be potentially decent after their near-upset at NEB. And then even hung in there and took MIN to OT the next week. But it seems they're somewhat beat-up these days and they just aren't stopping anyone and I don't think SYR will be an exception. Miami's last 3 losses to MIN, UC and COL were 41-35, 47-10, 42-0. They're not improving imo. COL is only a so-so team imo and to lose to them THAT horribly is telling. Biggest concern for me on SYR is a letdown following their huge win and coming in to play a bad mid-major team and it's right before they get to host WV in what is obviously a game they will be more excited about. But I can see how a philosophy throughout the team that they want to BUILD on this win and not let it be the only highlight of their season will prevail for their situation. I was impressed with their composure throughout their big win at LOU. So I think SYR is still a tad undervalued and I guess I think Miami is somehow overrated. I don't see how though. I thought there might be potential for this team this year but they are getting absolutely crushed by decent-but-not-spectacular competition. |

Re: Week 5 NCAAF Early Lines Thread
ARK ST -4 looks intriguing to me.
MEM is just really bad imo and ARK ST might be slightly undervalued. MEM was awful at UCF last week. They ended up losing 56-20 but I'm thinking it only ended up that 'close' because UCF might have packed it in somewhat after leading 42-0 at half. MEM was down 56-7 and then scored 14 points in the 4th Q against I'm assuming some 2nd string defenders. MEM was on their 2nd QB by that time at least. UCF racked up 600 yds in the game. ARK ST competed similarly decently at TEX as that very same UCF team did. TEX beat ASU 21-13 and beat UCF 35-32. Last week they went to TEN and lost 48-27. Their defense fell apart against TEN in the final 2 mins of the 1st half. It was just 17-14 but TEN was able to score back to back TD's and take a 31-17 half-time lead. ARK ST was still within striking distance early in the 4th Q when they closed the gap to 38-27. ARK ST averaged 5.7 yds per rush going 31-177 which could really cause MEM some problems. ARK ST has already won against a CUSA team when they beat SMU 45-28. And I don't think MEM is significantly better than SMU. Last yr SMU was 6-6 while MEM was 2-10 for example. |

So Cal is not the favorite on a neutral field against Oregon? Bizarre.

Re: Week 5 NCAAF Early Lines Thread
huh? who?
Oregon is -5.5 vs. CAL. USC is -21 vs. WASH. UCLA plays Oregon State but apparently there is no line for this one yet. |

[/ QUOTE ] As a Memphis alum I listened to the game last week. (When does basketball start?) Anyway, UCF pulled their stud RB and most of their line after their first possession in the 2nd half (touchdown). I believe Memphis's 2nd string QB was responsible for 2 of the 3 tds and one of them was pretty late in the game. Other important point to make is that the Ark St/Mem game was postponed from three weeks ago do to thunderstorms. The line on that game, with Memphis coming off a decent showing vs Ole Miss was Memphis -3.5 compared to +4.0 now. Not sure if that affects anyone's thinking, but worth noting. |
