Is it more sinful to believe in a much different monotheistic religion than yours or to disbelieve in God completely?

I guess it depends on how vengeful your original God was. For example, I think the Catholic God would be like a crazy ex-girlfriend, like "If I can't have you, no one can!" and insist on the latter.

If you believe in sin, wouldn't you also have to believe in a God? [/ QUOTE ] The question was originally posed to theists. |

Then there is no question. Using the word sin in a question to people who don't believe in sin will not generate much discussion because its a trick question...

not being a christian/crazy id still like to give this a shot.
I would think worshipping a completely opposite god would be worse. for example, if u chose to worship the bibles version of satan. I dont know if people actually do this or if it is just something you see on TV, but it seems to me, acknowleding the existence of satan (or some islamic devil) is saying that you at least believe some parts of the bible, but choose to ignore them and worship the exact opposite (though I think satan worshippers for the most part take the stance that the bible doesnt give a fair and balanced view of satan.) oh not to mention that when you worship other gods it increases their god powers by +5 mana and aids them in the god wars, where as atheists dont increase any gods super powers. by worshipping another god, you are basically saying that you are willing to think irrationaly, so why not at least pick the right god (the mormon one)? |

This is a goofy sort of question (as you surely realize), because you're asking to reason out an extension of something that isn't based on reason in the first place. So the answer will just be what the theist wants it to be.
