Re: ***Official 2007 Philadelphia Phillies Thread***
Solid game tonight.
It's sad that 5 IP, 5 H, 5 BB, 2K, 3 ER is a pleasant surprise from Eaton, but it was. It would be nice if the Phils could win a laugher or get 7-8 innings from a starter before Romero and/or Gordon's arms fall off. Go FishRockDodgers! |

bullpen did an awesome job tonight! [/ QUOTE ] Geary came in and threw strikes. Gordon did the same thing. They were up on every hitter they faced, it seemed. Good night, no doubt. May have to go down and see one of these this weekend. |

[ QUOTE ] also, the Mets broadcasters are such ridiculous homers. I wish I could punch Gary Cohen in the face every time he says something like, "Jose Reyes clearly has the defensive edge over Jimmy Rollins" or "If Reyes played in Citizen's Bank Park he'd certainly have 28 homeruns." [/ QUOTE ] What do you expect? Cohen grew up in Queens and has been a Mets fan his whole life. The other two played for the Mets for years. Of course they are going to be homers. Not to mention they work for SNY a cable channel owned by yep..the Mets! Despite their homerisms they aren't terrible announcers. There are far worse throughout the league. [/ QUOTE ] i'm well aware of Cohen/Darling/Hernandez's ties to New York and the organization, but there are announcers that are considerably less homer with similar ties. also, I don't doubt that there are worse around the league, don't get me wrong here. I just find Cohen's "bandbox" schtick extraordinarily tired and annoying. and the fact that he compares Reyes's power to Jimmy's is laughable. and Reyes does not have a significant or "clear" defensive edge over Jimmy. but it's just constant [censored] like that every night. granted, you're a Mets fan so of course you're going to be an apologist for these clowns. but my point remains, they (Cohen > Darling > Hernandez) come up with some ridiculous [censored] every broadcast. |

[/ QUOTE ] yeah, it was a surprisingly "good" performance out of Eaton, but I'm glad that Charlie isn't [censored] around anymore and had the sense to give him the hook after the leadoff walk. that [censored] could have gotten out of hand in a hurry. Geary did a really nice job of putting out the fire. |
