Basics???
Real Simple Q's:
1.What is the average cost to make a wager. Say I put $10 on the Redskins tonight with the 7 point spread. What will the average bookmaking site charge me for the wager? 10%? Less? 2.Am I correct in understanding that if I bet $1 on the Redskins at +270 I will win $2.70 if they win and if I bet $1 on the Eagles at -330 I will win $1.33 if they win. So the bookmaker is taking about how much? Do they charge me to make the wager or do they just arange these odds to profit long term? Thanks |

Re: Basics???
1. In NFL, 20c of juice is pretty standard on most sites. That means you're usually risking $11 to win $10.
2. You're slightly off. Betting $1 at +270 means you'll be paid out $2.70 in addition to your original stake. Betting $1 at -330 will pay you out $0.30 in addition to your original stake. The "charge" you pay to make the wager is included in the odds. Otherwise, the price you would see would be something like -300 and +300 (the non-juice price). |
