Discussion- Three Betting at the Micros
I posted this a few days ago in the beginner's forum, but it didn't garner very much interest. so anyway...
I'm a relatively new player toiling away at the micro stakes, and trying to grasp certain concepts. One thing I can't seem to grasp is the idea of 3 betting. Aside from the monster hands, what are generally good situations to 3 bet light into? What cards do you look for to 3bet with? I will generally 3 bet any pocket pair from the blind if the button opens. Also, once in a while I'll 3 bet with suited connectors or one-gappers to isolate a raiser when i'm in position. Are either of these plays profitable at the micros? What about in general, or are they a leak I need to work on? this is around nl10 and nl25 btw. |

the opponent is what matters..not necessarily the cards.

Re: Discussion- Three Betting at the Micros
In micro games, 3betting light from the blinds is probably not a good idea with a PP or SC. I think 3betting light works only when you know the person has been raising light and will most likely fold to your 3bet. If you get called, you're playing a big pot out of position. It's extremely hard to play drawing hands like SCs out of position and it's also harder to maximize when you flop big when you're OOP.
In short, fold those SCs almost always, and call with your PP. But, as whyzze said, your opponents matter most. |
